Embarassment

So today was my 8th grade graduation...oh I'm sorry..my promotion to high school. Wow. So we had to get all dressed up and put on our fancy dresses and heels and parade around in front of the parents. Okay, I'm making this sound like a death camp...it wasn't that bad!

It started at 6:30. The parents went straight into the auditorium to be seated while we headed to the gymnasium. The teachers herded us like calves into lines that were arranged in alphabetical order. We were brought into the auditorium and sat in the middle section as the Class of 10'.

They called all of these prestigious awards. We were supposed to feel honored, but were instead embarrassed having to stand up in front of the crowd. As the last awards were called we all cheered because we thought it was over...FAIL. Twas not.

They then proceed to call EVERY. single. name. in the entire freaking grade. We had to walk up the stairs of the stage, go shake the Principal's hand, shake the vice principles hand, and walk off. It doesn't sound that bad. Right?

WRONG.

I knew my dad would poke fun at me for not posing for his camera when my name was called. So I did what he would've wanted! I shook the Principal's hand and held it for 20 ENTIRE SECONDS. (Keep in mind this was in front of 750 people.) This took major guts! Then I walked to the Assistant Principal's and held hers while posing with a proud grin. As I made my way to the other end of the stage to walk down the stairs, I again posed. My father was mortified.

Afterwards all the parents fondled over us and how big we've gotten. The peers took pictures weith eachother. There was water, punch, and cookies in the commons area afterwards, too. I said farewell from all of my friends, after being scrutinized by the whole grade for my cheesy actions.

I'm mortified I even did it. Oh well!
